The Finnish Immigration Service announced automatic monitoring of startups and residence permits that were issued under a startup visa. Such measures are taken to ensure that entrepreneurs meet the residency requirements.
The law provides for the issuance of a residence permit to a person who establishes a start-up or owns a new company that aims to develop. Before applying for a residence permit, an entrepreneur must obtain a positive opinion from Business Finland.
They will monitor compliance with the requirements for a residence permit, including checking the entrepreneur’s move to Finland. The Immigration Service can automatically check information in national registers, the Income Register and the Finnish Population Information System.
All residence permits issued on or after January 1, 2023 will be subject to verification.
