Japan began accepting applications for the Digital Nomad Visa on April 1, 2024. The Japan Digital Nomad Visa provides an opportunity for remote full-time employees of non-Japanese companies and freelancers working for non-Japanese markets from 49 countries to legally stay and work in Japan for 6 months.
Japanese authorities have published official requirements for the rules of conduct of nomads. The rules should help foreigners integrate into the Japanese community and not cause inconvenience to residents of the country.
The first rule obliges all digital nomads to be fairly quiet both at home and in public places. In addition, special attention should be paid even to coughing, and be sure to cover yourself with your hand.
The Japanese insist on responsibility when riding a bicycle; under no circumstances should you use your phone. This also applies to behavior on public transport.
Authorities expect foreigners to follow the rules and thus respect the Japanese and their culture.
