The Australian Tax Organization (ATO) warns taxpayers about false deductions bounded with job and remind employee about using a new checking regime in real time deductions and about tax declarations electronically.

ATO held about 450,000 individual taxpayers reviews and inspections in 2014-15, resulting in an adjustment of income in excess of 1.1 billion Australian dollars of income tax. The cases were related to the omission of income or more, false deductions.
“Every tax deduction scrutinized using increasingly sophisticated tools and analysis, developed by us. This means that we can identify and review of tax returns, which can omit the information or contain unsubstantiated deductions. When the red flag is raised, our staff will investigate further and if your claims seem justified, we will check them with your employer, “White said.
